This week I am going to do 3 blog posts overviewing one of the biggest music festivals in the world, day by day. Of course I'm talking about Glastonbury!
Loads of acts are performing throughout the weekend, so obviously I can't cover them all. Instead I have devised catagories to fit some of my favourites into.
Here it goes....
Catagory is my new found act:
The amazing thing about festivals is that most of them have an introducing tent, which allows upcoming artists to perform. This is were new music is discovered. I always watch these stages whenever a festival is on because there is guarenteed to be at least one amazing act; this has been proved by my new find, Circa Waves.
I have heard a few of Circa Waves songs before, obvs T-Shirt weather, but never really fully listened to them. That is until thier unbelievable Glasto set.
Much the same as the Libertines, Circa Waves set was a suprise act, and a good one at that. Their summery and dancy tunes were perfect for the opening day of Glastonbury, and really embraced everything a festival is. They are chill yet upbeat, and remind of summer. Their sound is similar to the likes of The Vaccines, Two Door Cinema Club, and Peace, which aren't bad bands to be compared to in my opinion.
If you are intrested in listening to them than their debut album Young Chasers is available now, and I will also link the viedo of their set at the end of the post.

Catagory is my top 3 of the first day acts:
This catagory is going to be a long one, sorry about it.
My first in the top three is Mark Ronson. He's such a cool, funky, performer; like nothing really bothers him, and he knows he's probably one of the best dressed at the whole festival. His 50's/60's vibe was reinforced with his accompanying orchestra of trumpets and trombones, which added to the whole aesthetic of his style.
Obviously Mark Ronson is a DJ, so he spent a lot of time at the decks. This didn't stop his performance being shockingly energetic. To make up for his lack of contact with the crowd he enlisted a bunch of singers, including Boy George! Such an amazing idea as it added variety to his performance.
He did come out from behind his decks though, to play the guitar, and when he did there was nothing I wanted to see more than his outfit. Being a style expert of course I was expecting big things from the man; and he didn't disappoint. Wearing the most gorgeous pair of black and white pointed 50's shoes, black suit trousers, a shit slightly opened at the top with a white vest underneath and visible, a pair of dark sunglasses, and his hair perfectly quaffed, may not sound amazing to some, but seriously! His charm and style just makes anything he wears look effortlessly cool.
He was the perfect person for the opening day as his high energy songs, and overall funk that just radiates from him, allowed the audience, and everyone watching, to get a glimpse of the festival realness to come.
10/10 for music, and a definite 10/10 for style!

My second act for my top three is Catfish and the Bottlemen. Quite a contrast to Mark Ronson, but what can I say I'm very musically diverse.
I have always been a massive fan of Catfish since their debut album The Balcony came out, and I really think that their Glastonbury set was one of their best. They are just amazing live (as I will find out in November).
They are the typical indie rock band, wearing all black, and singing songs about sex, but tha'ts kind of why I love them. They have a certain presence on stage which makes them completely loveable- it helps that they are attractive as well. But the moment that really made me realise their love for music happened in their Glastonbury set, when Van McCann asked a security guard to give him a mixtape that a member of the crowd had made, and promised to listen to it. It just really showed me how much they love music, and care about their fans.
But it wasn't just touching moments that made the performance, of course they were incredible! Singing songs from their album The Balcony, they all sounded exactly like the CD, and that is how you identify a true band who cares about what they do, from the fakes.

My final act for top 3 is James Bay. Hottie with a hat. Since coming 3rd in the BBC introducing of 2015, he has dominated the music industry. His single Hold Back The River was in the charts for god knows how long, and now his song Let it Go (not the disney song soz), is constantly being played on the radio. His album is unbelievably good, with the perfect mix of upbeat guitar tunes, and slow sensual songs.
Like catfish he just has a stage presence that captures everyone's attention and immediately draws them to his amazing songs.
His iconic hat, long luscious hair, talented guitar skills, and just great personality makes him such a talent to watch. I strongly suggest giving him a listen.

Catagory is headliner...
The headliner for Friday night, after Dave's unfortunate accident, was Florence and the Machine. And obviously she was incredible. Dancing across the stage and being a general angel in a white two piece suit. But I really can't describe it so I will link her video at the end of the post.

So there you have it my review of the first day of Glastonbury. I hope you enjoyed it and I will be back tomorrow to review the second day of the amazing Glastonbury Festival.
