So this is my second Reading and Leeds blog post for 2015, and it is the turn of my new finds. To be honest I don’t think they are new finds because I think I have written about them before so maybe a better title would be bands I’m glad I found? Anyway here they are…

Circa Waves:

I know for definite that I have written about Circa Waves before, but they are just too good to not write about again. I only really started listening to the Liverpool based band after hearing T-shirt weather done in the live lounge at radio 1, and then continuing to hear it played. Then they started playing at the festivals and I was done for. Their music is a mixture of kind of electronic indie rock that sounds so good it’s amazing. All of their songs just make me happy; they are cheerful and summery and really just great summer tunes that will make it feel like summer all year round (kind of like The Drums!) I would definitely recommend you give them a listen if you haven’t already because they are one of the best bands that I’ve heard of 2015.

Peace:

I don’t think I have mentioned Peace before but if so you are getting another slice of them. They are originally from Worchester, England, and are a very indie rock band. I have only recently started listening to them, however they have been around since 2012 so you may have already heard of them. When watching their set at Reading and Leeds it was clear how much they are adored by their fans; the tent was completely full and everyone was jumping around and just enjoying the glorious music coming from the mouths and hands of the band. They have been compared to the likes of Foals and Vampire Weekend in the past, however I would say they are more similar to The Vaccines. They have that deep voiced sound and heavy guitars and drum sound that has become iconic of Indie Rock music, and if you are into that type of music they are definitely for you.

Wolf Alice:

Wolf Alice are a breath of fresh air. It is so refreshing to see a band that is headed by a female in the rock and roll scene; it is not something often seen and I have no idea why! They were originally formed in London in 2010 and have a very mixed sound to them- they have a genius mix of folk, grunge, and electronic elements with vintage '90s indie rock that sounds ridiculous to say but works so well. They are a really unique band and are definitely ones to look out for. You may have already heard some of their stuff played on Radio 1, which is where I first started listening to them. They also had a big turn out and were another band where the fans clearly adored them (and some of them are crazy motherfuckers when you watch them mosh!) I would definitely predict that Wolf Alice will be heard of a lot more in these coming months and will be producing big things in the near future. We need a proper band with a strong female lead in our British music scene.

Eliza and the Bear:

And finally we come to Eliza and the Bear. They are one of my favourite bands right now and it’s not hard to distinguish why. I first heard them when I saw Twin Atlantic back in May of this year and they were one of the supporting acts. I never expected to actually like a supporting act to be completely honest but I totally adored them. They are another band who are so summery and upbeat you can’t help but not like them. Touring with Twin were their big break and now they are heading out on their own solo tour and I really hope a lot of people notice how talented they are and how utterly amazing their music is. You’ve probably already heard one of their songs as it was used on an advert this year for cider, however if you haven’t heard them yet I seriously suggest you do. My favourite songs of theirs include ‘Let us be young’, ‘brother’s boat’, and ‘light it up’. If you enjoy listening to summery and happy songs than I highly suggest you listen to Eliza and the Bear because you will be smiling for literal days!

So there you have it my new finds/bands I’m glad I found for Reading and Leeds 2015. I hope you enjoyed this post and look forward to the final instalment tomorrow of the headliners for this year’s festival.
