Uni Review: Leicester

So to start with I’m sorry that I’ve not updated my blog in AGES but I’ve just been really busy. But anyway I have been to another university, so here’s my review of it…
If you’ve read these post before then you know that I use 4 categories to assess the uni- accommodation, place, travel, and the actual uni. So let’s begin:
Travel: Leicester isn’t too far away from my hometown (a 40 minute drive if that) so getting there was fairly easy for me. If you do live further away or can’t drive then Leicester does have a train station so there’s an option for you. The only issue I would say I had with travel was that the parking in Leicester is hard to find. You either can’t find a parking space or its pay and display (*insert eye roll*). Nonetheless travel to Leicester is relatively easy which is a massive plus when thinking about possible unis.
Place: The actual Uni is in a genius placed- only a 10-15 minute walk into town, and is right next to the O2! This means your day could pan out like this: Lecture, walk into town and go to the pub, walk back towards uni, go and see a band, back to the pub. Pretty much student goals I’d say. Or if that’s not for you then there is always loads of shops and a massive shopping centre in town that is always fun to look around. Placement is something to definitely bear in mind.
Accommodation: The only issue I really had with the uni was the accommodation. It wasn’t that it was filthy, or in a dodgy area, or anything of that sort, it was more the distance it was from the uni. The organisers had put buses on to shuttle Uni lookers to and from accommodation (if this doesn’t give you an idea of how far away it is nothing will). A 15 minute bus ride or a 40 minute walk is what it would take to go to and from uni every day. That may not seem so bad now but think about what it will be like in the winter, a heavy bag filled with books, you’re tired, and cold, and just want to get home. Not really the best of circumstances.
The actual Uni: I was surprised by the fact that I really liked the Uni. It wasn’t that I was expecting to completely detest it, I just wasn’t expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The building is quite vintage looking and is a nice rich gold colour that really complements the surrounding greenery of the gardens- it’s like going to Hogwarts! Seriously though it was a really beautiful uni that had a beautiful building, and was a gorgeous surrounding. Being close to the town and the O2 is also a massive plus.
All in all I was really impressed, I just don’t think I would go there because it’s too close. Even though it’s probably not for me I would still highly recommend you go and look at it.
