So like I said at the end of my last post I have been doing some pretty exciting stuff lately, the first of which I am ready to share with you now…
I WENT TO SEE CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN!!!
So anyone who has read any of my festival posts will know that I’m obsessed with Catfish, and all my thoughts and opinions on the band are thoroughly expressed on those posts (I suggest you check them out ;-) ) so I’m not going to reiterate them. However I will say how utterly blessed I feel to have seen them.
Considering they have one album they put on one hell of a show! Seriously I would say they are in my top 3 favourite bands to see live because what I witnessed was incredible. The singing wasn’t even the best part for me, the playing was. I’m such a sucker for a band (a real band I mean) with guitar and drums, and so when I heard those opening chords to Tyrant, which they played last, it resonated within me and made me feel part of something really special (Soz for the corn).
And don’t even get me started on Van. Seriously I won’t go on about him but please, that boy is gorgeous. He has such amazing stage presence and an unbelievable ability to play the guitar- I’m not joking but he had that guitar against his face more times than he swore in his songs- and he swears a lot.
But the most touching thing about the whole performance was when someone threw their demo on stage, Van picked it up, and he promised to listen to it ‘because I know how hard it is to get into the industry’. That was one of the best moments for me, not because he was being really nice and a total heartthrob (even though he totally was) but because it’s so nice to know that the bands that are making it don’t forget where they came from. They were all going to gigs and throwing demos onstage at one point and it’s really refreshing to know that there are at least some people who appreciate where they are and really thank the people that got them there.
Okay corn over (sorry I just love this band and can’t help it!!). In all seriousness though they were amazing. They were so fun, and energetic, and one of those bands you could just go and watch forever and a day. I highly recommend getting tickets if you can because you will not regret it.
