So, here is the second part to the exciting news I said I had a couple of weeks ago…

I WENT TO SEE THE 1975!

I know another gig review. Again. But seriously I just had to share these two experiences with you because they were unreal.

Similarly to Catfish if you’ve ever read any of my blog posts you will know how much I adore The 1975 (just read my first ever blog post to find out), so seeing them live was a dream come true, and what made it even better was the fact that they played the perfect set. If I were to design a set for them I would definitely go with the one they did because the mixture of upbeat and dancey tunes with the more emotional ones was perfect- they even played Me which is my all-time favourite (how did they know???).

I know how many people love Matt Healy (including myself) and so I thought, before I get to the actual performance part, I’d add in just a little something about him. He is so much better looking in person and I didn’t even know that was possible! The barnet was utter perfection and curled to a T, and I mean the man did 3 outfit changes- although one of them was just taking his jacket off so does that count? Seriously though not just his looks were on point but obviously his performance was too. No question.

So on to performance. Everything, from the music to the set was done to perfection, and just have to say I am loving the new pink theme they have going on. It’s so much more fun than the dark and brooding monochrome they had before (although I was in love with that too), but it’s about time we had an indie band who embraced the bubble-gum world.

For me the best thing when you go to a gig is not only seeing the band live (obvs) but also hearing the new music. I feel incredibly lucky to have gone to the second show of their tour and so have been part of the second audience to hear their new stuff. I know that they have been posting their new lyrics on social media recently but hearing them in person was amazing. If what I heard was anything to go on their new album (released in February) is going to be unreal. Completely different to their last one granted, but that’s what I love about them. They are never the same thing twice- always changing their sound and looking for new ways to fully give themselves to a song. If you want some insider information I would look out for A Change Of Heart because that is going to be a killer.

I suppose what I’m really trying to tell you all is I’m so glad they’re back. I feel like their new album is something that is not going to disappoint even though it is a world away from the last. They are performers and an amazing band to see live, and despite all their fame over the last few years they are still so grateful for everything they have. If you have the opportunity to see them go. I know I said the same thing about Catfish, but seriously they are a band I would not want to miss out on seeing.

Thanks for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it because I love writing about music and my gig experiences. Like before I’ve attached a couple of videos for you to enjoy.
