Weight update: So, I’ve put on another 2 pounds which isn’t great. To be honest I had a bit of a hard time last week and so need to recover from that. However I’m feeling positive about the outcome for this week, and am trying my best to recover some of those pounds gained. Keep those fingers crossed.

I wanted to post this week about something we all love- SLEEP!!!! Who doesn’t love to get all cosied up in a sheet cocoon of a night time, all warm and snuggled up, and snooze away the troubles of the day? But there are more health benefits to sleep then you would think…

  1. Be a healthier you – it has been scientifically proven then getting a good long nights sleep will help prevent serious conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and heart attacks. All you have to do is lower that eye mask and close those peepers.

  2. Stop the strain- If you’ve suffered an injury from a hard workout at the gym (haven’t we all?!) then sleep can speed up your recovery time. As you sleep you’re relaxing all your muscles, and giving them a well-deserved rest after going hard on them allllll day.

  3. Battle the bulge by doing nothing? - Believe it or not if you aren’t getting enough sleep you are less likely to lose that 2 pounds a week goal you’ve been dreaming of. The hormone leptin is what makes you feel full, but when you haven’t had enough sleep your leptin levels drop resulting in you feeling constantly hungry (and hangry). Snooze was invented for a reason ya know!

  4. Sharpen your wit- who doesn’t want to be the cleverest and funniest one in the squad?! Studies have shown that if you get less than those precious 8 hours we all dream of (no pun intended) then you are more likely to become inattentive and impulsive. So start putting the hours in! I know it’s hard but just shut your damn eyes and try or you can kiss goodbye to your stellar humour and quick wit.

  5. Good vibes only please- Probably the most important thing when trying to lose weight and stay healthy is to remain positive. We all know that delirious feeling you get when you’re exhausted- one comment could have you in hysteric fits or hysterical tears. Have no fear the solution is here; get those 8 hours and you will feel 100% your normal happy, sunny, optimistic self- unless you’re a full time bitch, sleep will not help that.

So put those hours in everyone. I know sometimes it’s hard to shut the mind off and drift away to dreamland, but at least try. And if you don’t manage it just remember snooze wasn’t designed to be ignored…
