Glastonbury 2016- Sunday’s top 3

And we’re back with the final Glastonbury post of 2016. Sunday wasn’t the best day of the weekend granted, but there were some highlights, so here we go…

James Blake: First up on my top 3 of Sunday is Londoner electronic music producer and singer song writer James Blake. The amazing thing about Blake is that he has this beautiful soulful voice that completely mesmerises any audience, which is mixed with electronic beats, to create an obscure, yet somehow right, sound which is both beautiful and extraordinarily clever. I find the best time to listen to James Blake is just when you want to wind down before going to sleep as the mix of his soft voice and gentle electric sounds is strangely relaxing to listen to, and will guarantee you a perfect night’s sleep. He played on the John Peel stage this year, and his full hour and a half set is worth listening to for some gentle easy listening of a night time.

Gabrielle Aplin: This woman is one of my favourite musicians, but isn’t always one I immediately think about listening to every day. Gabrielle Aplin has one of the most beautiful voices, in my opinion, in music right now. Its softness, paired with her acoustic guitar which she never fails to pull out at any event, is the perfect combination. Her music always reminds of a relaxing Sunday afternoon, lying in the garden, the sun shining down, and a Pimms in hand, just listening to her music and reading a book. Her surprise set on the Introducing Stage was truly a beautiful thing to watch, and can be found on the BBC IPlayer for anyone wanting to rein act my little summer scenario.

Years & Years: I actually really love Years & Years and think that they have some proper tunes that get you ready to go out of a night. Their set at Glastonbury wasn’t a disappointment as far as set choice, playing all their most notable songs, such as ‘take shelter’, ‘shine’, and ‘king’ which got the whole crowd going, but I will say that at times lead singer, Olly Alexander, got a little bit too excited and a bit pitchy. However their set is definitely worth a watch just for looking at his outfit. He was wearing some form of white jacket with multi-coloured fringing coming off it- definitely showing a sense of pride from the frontman.

Additional Highlights: There weren’t really that many highlights for me on Sunday and I was largely disappointed, however there were a couple in the form of Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Jake Bugg.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Glastonbury 2016 blog posts this weekend, and I look forward to keeping you updated on the highlights of all the rest of the festivals this season.
