Sometimes you just need to hot chocolate and chill

So recently I have started getting a little bit stressed with uni. I have so many deadlines coming up, and it’s the first time I will be assessed at a uni standard, and all I want to do is achieve what’s expected of me. And sometimes (not always though) going out and getting insanely (although safely) drunk isn’t the best way to deal with it. Sometimes you just need to slow down and chill. So here’s how I do it…

Step one:

The first thing I like to do is have a long hot shower. I would say have a bath but you know that uni accommodation is shit so that’s out of the question. Just stand under a stream of hot water and let the steam help cleanse your mind of everything bad that’s going on.

Step two:

After your shower get some body butter (I use Soap & Glory the Righteous Butter) and smooth it over your whole body. This will not only soften your skin (and who doesn’t want soft skin in a crisis right?!), but it will also help to relieve any stress still left in your muscles after your shower. Just smoothing some body butter on yourself can really be therapeutic and make you feel cleansed and refreshed.

Step three:

You can’t pamper yourself properly without doing a facemask! It would simply be unethical. I use Beauty Formulas clay mask which is said to absorb excess oils and draw out deep-rooted dirt. Using a face mask just adds to that cleansed feel, and will also give you the chance to just lie on your bed for 15 minutes, eyes closed, and completely calm. Plus your skin always feels amazing after a face mask and you will be glowing for days afterwards.

Step four:

There’s nothing quite like giving your nails a new coat of paint to chill you out. Choose your favourite colour and get those claws of your filed and painted to perfection. There’s something about having beautifully coloured nails that just makes a girl feel better about herself.

Step five:

Now it’s time to hot chocolate and chill. Make a steaming cup of hot chocolate, obviously topped with a mountain of whipped cream, and start getting cosy. Surrounded by piles of blankets and pillows, illuminated by countless fairy lights, and your favourite rom-com or Disney film playing on your TV. What could be more perfect or more relaxing?

So that’s what I do whenever I’m stressed out and need to just come back down to earth and breathe. I hope this helps some of you cope with your stress, and if you have any other methods of chilling out leave them in the comment section below.
