February Favourites

It may be the end of February, but it’s the beginning of my monthly favourites. So what have I been loving in February?
Riverdale:
Everyone’s got to have a favourite TV show that they obsess over, and this month mine is

teen drama Riverdale. I don’t want to give too much away (mainly because I still don’t know the outcome of the show) but it has everything you would ever want in a teen drama- a murder, strange family relationships, a love triangle, and a teacher/student affair that makes you wish you had fought harder for your fit history teacher in year 10. Netflix releases one episode every Friday, which makes the week seem that much longer, but the TGIF feeling doubly as satisfying. Five episodes into the 13 part series and I still don’t have a clue who the killer is. For fans of Pretty Little Liars this is definitely one for you.
Casey Lowry:
If you’ve read my blog before than you probably know that I love discovering new music. With it coming up to spring, the month of re-growth and new beginnings, I thought it was time to grow my music library. That was when I came across Casey Lowry. I was listening to Clara Amfo’s Radio 1 show one day when I heard his upbeat and Circa Wave-ish tune Trampoline. Naturally I was straight on Google finding out everything I could about this elusive man with the summer vibes hit, but could find out next to nothing about him. But until he releases more music there is Trampoline- with its summer indie vibes consisting of a happy drumbeat and plucky guitar rift it gives me the feeling of optimism that comes with summer. I think it’s safe to say we could all do with that feeling right now.
Soap and Glory sexy mother pucker:

I love a good red lipstick. For me it’s the basis of any classic look- a simple pair of jeans and Breton shirt can be made to look editorial with a simple swipe of rouge on the lips, and a classic LBD can be made that much more alluring with a pop of red. But with so many different make-up brands and so many different shades of red it can be agonising to find that perfect shade that suits you. Trust me I’ve tried everything from Raspberry to Seduction, but I’ve finally found my perfect red. It comes curtesy of Soap and Glory, a brand whose bath products fill my bathroom, but whose greatest triumph has been their Sexy Mother Pucker matte lipstick. My shade? Fired Up- an apt name for a lipstick I practically wear every day. What I love about this lipstick is that it’s not bright red, nor is it burgundy. It’s the perfect shade, with gentle undertones of orange which make it vibrant and bright, without being overpowering. Plus its matte application sits perfectly on your lips and will stay on for the best part of the day. I am a firm believer in lipstick being a girl’s best friend as no outfit is complete without a pop of lip colour, and I’ve certainly found my best friend in this lipstick.
Katie Piper: Confidence, the secret:
Ever since I saw Body Shockers for the first time I have been in complete awe of Katie

Piper. The fact that she suffered such a malicious attack on her body, and yet still manages to get up every day and live a relatively normal life, shows me not only the strength of the human body, but the strength of women. She is truly an inspiration to me. That is why I am equally in love with her book: Confidence, The Secret. A self-help book that aims to unlock all the secrets to becoming a strong and confident individual. But this book seems like so much more than a self-help book. It isn’t so much Katie Piper undermining the reader and bragging about how confident she is, it’s more her using her own experiences to empathise and show the reader that being confident is hard but can be done. If you feel like you could do with some confidence coaching (and who doesn’t) than I would definitely recommend this book.
Drinki:
I thought I’d end my favourites with a little London lifestyle favourite of mine. Drinki is an app that can be downloaded on IOS and gives you free cocktails. At the beginners level you get a free cocktail every 2 weeks, but as you get more people to use and share your code you move up the levels. The higher level you are the more cocktails you can get and the cheaper your night out will be. It’s just a great little app that gets you a free drink after those stressful days at work or uni when you need some alcoholic beverages in your life that you can’t afford. If you download the app and use my code: IRUSSEL1 you can get your first free drink. Happy drinking.
So those are just a few of the things that I’ve been loving this month. What are your February favourites? Comment below and give me some new things to try.
