Student loan haul

Its official, the student loan is in and thousands of students across the UK are no longer poor! Hallelujah! No more wearing the same pair of tights for a week, or going sans underwear because you can’t afford a wash, it’s time to start splashing the cash (again). That’s why, on the first day my loan came in, I went on a little shopping haul…

Tulle black dress
Primark
£8
I wanted to buy some clothes a little bit different for spring/summer and this dress is the beginning of that. As someone quite short I never like to wear long skirts or dresses because they tend to make me look short, however I couldn’t resist when it came to this dress. The simple black slip dress underneath the tulle of the full length skirt seems to distract from the fact that you may not be the tallest person, and the tulle gives a very ballerina feel to the dress while still looking effortlessly cool. Plus at £8 you can’t really go wrong.

Denim skirt
Primark
£12
Denim skirts will always be in. They are so effortless to fashionably wear, and can pretty much be paired with anything, which makes them perfect for anyone who is either too busy to think tirelessly about what to wear, or a lazy uni student (no guesses to which one I am). This Primark denim skirt is absolutely perfect. Its A-line fit makes it not overly short that you can’t wear it casually, but not overly long so it looks stupid, it’s the perfect length and fit for any body shape. Additionally the stitched flower detailing on the side makes it go from a standard denim skirt to something a little more interesting and summery.

Sex Pistols ripped T-shirt
Primark
£8
I am definitely a lover of the new ripped trend when it comes to clothes- now all my fave old T-shirts that I thought I would have to throw out are in fashion! I am absolutely obsessed with this Sex Pistols top despite not really being that huge a fan of theirs. Its light cotton material allows it to hang perfectly on your body and gives it just the right slouch shape to make you look presentable yet comfortable. The rips are perfectly placed so as to not show too much of what’s underneath, but still give it that punk vibe. Overall it’s just the perfect top for comfort.

Silver Mules
Primark
£6
Ask anyone that knows me and they will tell you I absolutely HATE flip-flops/sandals. I despise their existence and want nothing to do with them. Which is why I decided to buy mules not sandals or flip flops. I specifically bought these shoes to go with my black dress to give a bit of colour to the outfit, but I’ve ended up just plain falling in love with them. They’re a simple, casual shoe that can be worn to go to the shops just as much as they can be worn to go out for dinner. The silver colour gives them a summer vibe that can’t be missed in an outfit and gives any outfit you wear them with an ultimate vibrancy lift. What’s more is you can just slip them on and go- amazing!

Silver playsuit
Topshop
£28.80 (with student discount £36 without)
Of course when the student loan comes in you have to go on an obligatory night out, so
obviously a new outfit had to be bought. I scoured Oxford Street for two days trying to find the perfect outfit- something classy with just a hint of nasty slut. But everywhere I went I absolutely hated everything that I tried on. That is until Topshop. As soon as I laid eyes on this playsuit I knew I had to have it. The stretchy material makes it easy to move in (perfect for dancing) whilst maintaining the classic playsuit shape, and the cold shoulder style shows off just enough skin to give it a classy look while showing that you can get down (or maybe that’s just me). And lord knows I love silver, so the silver and black material is a match made in heaven for me. A going-out winner.

Pink trainers
H&M
£17.99
For a good few weeks I have been in desperate need of a new pair of trainers for knocking about London in, but obviously I was broke. I had all intentions and purposes of buying a branded pair of trainers (probably Converse) but dropped that idea as soon as I found these beauties in H&M. The light pink colour of both the main shoe and the sole gives it a really quirky look which makes a plain, boring trainer a fashion statement. Granted the light colour will draw attention when they are dirty, but they can easily be cleaned, and shabby chic is in anyway. Plus, and this is a big one, they are the first pair of shoes I haven’t had to kill my feet to break in. I have been wearing them around London for the past week now and have felt nothing but happiness and rainbows. For £17.99 they were definitely a smart purchase. #AdultLife
So there is just the little way that I treated myself when the student loan came in. What have you been doing with yours? And how long do you think you can keep it this time? For me, I’m guessing not long. Happy spending!
